PRE-SURGERY PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Please call your internist/family physician and notify him/her that you are scheduled for surgery and make an appointment for a physical exam. You will need a complete workup which includes an EKG if you are 50 years of age or older.

2. Do not use ASPIRIN or anti-inflammatory products (that includes Motrin, Aleve, Advil, Nuprin, etc.) 14 days prior to surgery. The list also includes Alka-Seltzer and Bromoseltzer. NO vitamins and/or herbs.

3. If you need to take something for pain you may take any acetaminophen products such as Tylenol.

4. If you are taking any medications regularly that you have not told our office about, you must notify our office at once.

5. You may have NOTHING to eat or drink after midnight, the night before surgery. THAT INCLUDES WATER.

6. After any surgical procedure it is required that you have a ride home.

7. If you have any questions at all regarding these instructions or anything else, please do not hesitate to call the office.

8. If you have Mammogram Films, please bring to the hospital the day of surgery. (Only if you are having Breast Localization).
